In 2018, KMITL provided a total of 260 financial aids for students, whose household income is less than 200,000 baht per year. The students received up to 12,000 baht per semester to aid their basic needs including food supply. The institute have priorities quota of the student who has been funded with the poverty scholarship for the institute’s dormitory. Whereas the dormitory’s rent is lowest price for local accommodation.
Moreover, KMITL has programs and courses to develop basic services for people, students, and many interested parties. Some of outstanding projects are listed below:
- Transferring Technology of Marine Animal Production for Commercial Purposes: is a project that provides training and technology to transfer aquatic animals to communities and people in Chumphon province and nearby in many ways. This project is held every year by the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang Chumphon Campus Khet Udomsak that aims to achieves goals in education, research, and academic services to the communities in the 4 upper southern provinces of Thailand: Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong and Surat Thani. This project will also bring people in the area good quality seafoods and know-how to care for marine animal resources from aquaculture and sustainable utilization of marine wildlife.
- Strengthen communities to be self-reliant and sustainable: is a practical training project conducted in partnership with the Food Research and Development Center, for providing knowledge and advice to the surrounding communities in food, branding, marketing, and packaging. The project also opens the opportunity for the communities to talk and exchange knowledge with the manufacturer directly, enabling communities to generate income on their own, sustainably and have a strong network.
